Food delivery
How to get DoorDash and Grubhub receipts for expenses and taxes
Where DoorDash and Grubhub keep your order receipts, how to download a past one, how to round up a year of food orders, and how business profiles and company accounts handle receipts.
Food delivery receipts pile up fast. A working lunch, a client dinner and a Friday night order all look the same in your inbox, and the card statement only shows "DOORDASH" or "GRUBHUB" with a total. Here's where each service keeps its receipts, how to get a year's worth back, and how to keep work meals apart from personal ones.
Short answer DoorDash: open Orders, pick the order and choose Receipt in the app, or View Receipt then Download Receipt on the website. Grubhub: Grubhub emails a receipt for every order, and Order History in your account lets you view and print past receipts. Neither service documents a one-click "download all receipts" for personal accounts, so your inbox is the fastest way to collect a year.
DoorDash receipts
Where DoorDash sends them
DoorDash emails a receipt to your account's email address. If you set up a Business Profile (see below), business orders also send a separate receipt to the work email you choose. If receipts aren't arriving, check spam first, then the email address in your account settings.
Finding a past order's receipt
- In the app: go to the Orders tab, select the order and press Receipt in the Order Details section.
- On the website: select Orders from the menu, select the order, click View Receipt and then Download Receipt.
Labels can shift a little between app versions, but the receipt always lives under the order itself.
What a DoorDash receipt shows
The receipt shows what you ordered and the charges on top of it. DoorDash's fee page lists the ones you may see: a delivery fee, a service fee, a small order fee on small orders, a long distance fee on some orders, and the tax. Checkout shows an estimated tax; DoorDash says the finalized tax appears on the order receipt. Tips are optional and, depending on your location, can be added at checkout or after delivery.
Getting a whole year of DoorDash receipts
DoorDash's help center doesn't describe a bulk export for personal orders. Your options:
- Search your email. Every order already sent you a receipt. In Gmail,
from:doordash.com after:2025/01/01 before:2026/01/01covers a calendar year. More Gmail searches for receipts. - Open orders one at a time on the website and download each receipt. Fine for a handful.
- Filter to business orders if you use a Business Profile. The Orders page lets you switch between Personal, Business and All, which shortens the list a lot.
Use a DoorDash Business Profile
Any DoorDash customer can add a Business Profile. Set it up under Account, then Account again under Account Settings, and choose Create profile in the Business Profile section. You can set:
- A receipt email. Business receipts go there as well as to your normal account email. Leave it blank and they go to your account email only.
- A default payment method. It can be the same card you use for personal orders.
- An expense provider. DoorDash lists Emburse Enterprise (Chrome River), Emburse Professional (Certify), Emburse Spend, SAP Concur, Expensify, Ramp and Brex. New business orders are sent there automatically, and you can send a past order's receipt from its receipt page with Send Receipt. In your expense tool, receipts are listed under the restaurant's or store's name, not "DoorDash".
After delivery, a business order sends an email with "Business receipt" in the subject and a PDF of the receipt attached. In Gmail, from:doordash.com subject:"business receipt" finds just those.
The profile defaults to Personal at checkout, so switch it to Business under Payment Details before you order. DoorDash says the profile can't be changed after checkout.
DoorDash for Business and expensed meals
DoorDash for Business is a separate, company-level program. A Business Profile doesn't sign you up for it. If your employer uses it, you pick a company budget at checkout and the company pays. Admins can download itemized receipts as CSV or PDF from the Admin Portal, and billing history for the current month and the previous three. Your employer may also ask you to enter an expense code when you order. Since the company pays directly, there's usually nothing for you to expense, but ask your finance team how they want it handled.
Grubhub receipts
Where Grubhub sends them
Grubhub says it emails you a receipt and texts you a confirmation when you place an order. The confirmation email also has the restaurant's phone number. If it doesn't arrive, Grubhub suggests checking your spam folder.
Finding a past order's receipt
Grubhub's Order History shows everything you've ordered and lets you view and print receipts. On the website, your account settings are under your name in the top right corner of the page. Grubhub's help pages don't spell out the app path step by step, so expect the exact labels to vary by app version.
Getting a whole year of Grubhub receipts
There's no documented bulk download for personal accounts. Search your inbox instead: from:grubhub.com after:2025/01/01 before:2026/01/01 covers a calendar year. Then use Order History to fill any gaps, printing to PDF where you need a copy.
Grubhub for Business (corporate accounts)
If your company has a Grubhub for Business account, the company is billed with consolidated invoices instead of employees filing expense reports. Admins can open Order History under the Orders tab of the Admin Portal to see orders placed with the company's line of credit in the past calendar year. Each order has a receipt icon for a detailed receipt, and you can search by person, expense code or restaurant. Invoice reporting can be downloaded as PDF and CSV.
If you ordered on the company account, ask your admin before expensing anything. The company has already paid.
Keeping meal receipts tax-ready
A delivery receipt shows the restaurant, the items, the date and the total. It doesn't show who you ate with or why, and for business meals that's the part that matters. A few habits help:
- Pick the business profile or company budget before you order. It's much harder to sort orders out afterwards.
- Note who was there and the purpose ("lunch with Acme, project kickoff") when you file the receipt.
- Keep the receipt, not just the card line. A statement shows the service name and an amount, nothing more.
- Watch for late tips. If you tip after delivery, make sure the amount you record matches what was finally charged.
Doing it with What Receipt?
DoorDash and Grubhub receipts arrive by email, so connecting Gmail to What Receipt? (a Pro feature) brings them in automatically. Each one is read for vendor, date, total and tax and filed alongside your other receipts. Import a past year catches up on a whole tax year at once. On another mailbox, forward receipts to your personal What Receipt? address instead. Put work meals in a Business project, add who was there in the notes, and they leave in the same export as everything else.
Questions
How do I get a receipt for a past DoorDash order?
In the app, open the Orders tab, select the order and press Receipt. On the website, select Orders, pick the order, click View Receipt and then Download Receipt.
Can I download all my DoorDash receipts at once?
DoorDash doesn't document a bulk download for personal accounts. Every order emailed you a receipt, so search your inbox for DoorDash emails in the date range you need. With a Business Profile, you can filter your Orders page to business orders only.
How do I get a Grubhub receipt?
Grubhub emails a receipt when you place an order. You can also open Order History in your Grubhub account to view and print past receipts.
