How to get Airbnb receipts and VAT invoices

Where Airbnb keeps guest receipts, how to get one for a past trip, why a single stay can have several receipts, where VAT invoices live, and how Airbnb for Work handles business trips.

An Airbnb stay is often the biggest receipt from a trip, and it's easy to end up with the wrong one. A stay paid in two parts has two receipts, a change of dates can add another, and receipts can't be edited once they're issued. Here's where Airbnb keeps them, how to get them back, and what to set up before you book a work trip.

Short answer On a computer, click Profile, choose Past trips, open the reservation and its listing, and click Get receipt under Reservation details. From there you can download, print or email it. For stays with more than one payment, go to Menu > Account settings > Payments > Manage payments, where receipts go back to 2018. Airbnb also emails your receipts.

Where Airbnb sends receipts

Airbnb issues a receipt whenever a payment is made: when you pay for a reservation, when you pay an extra amount after a change, and when you get a refund. Receipts are sent to you by email and kept in your account. Payments to a host through the Resolution Center don't change your earlier receipts, but you get a separate receipt for them by email.

Finding a past trip's receipt

  • On a computer: click Profile and select Past trips. Click the reservation, click the reservation's listing, and under Reservation details click Get receipt. You can download, print or email it from there.
  • In the app or a mobile browser: Airbnb's help article has separate steps for the iOS app, Android app and mobile browser, and the labels differ from the desktop ones. Start from your profile or Trips and look for the receipt under the reservation.

Airbnb's own help pages use slightly different paths. One starts from Profile > Past trips; another starts from Trips and finds Get receipt under Payment info. Expect small differences between versions.

Stays with more than one payment

If you paid in installments or changed the reservation, each payment has its own receipt. Go to Menu > Account settings > Payments and choose Manage payments under Your payments. Completed payments are listed there with their receipts, back to 2018. For anything older, Airbnb says its support team can help.

What an Airbnb receipt shows

The receipt covers the reservation and what you paid, including Airbnb's service fee. A few rules are worth knowing before you file it:

  • It's final. A receipt won't update if you add guest names or business details after paying. A new receipt appears only when a payment or refund happens.
  • It's in the currency you paid in. Airbnb can't reissue it in a different currency.
  • It's in your account's language at the time it was created.

If a receipt must show your company name or billing address, add those details before you book. Afterwards, Airbnb's suggested fix is to cancel and rebook, which is subject to the host's cancellation policy.

VAT invoices

Airbnb issues a VAT invoice when VAT is charged on its service fees. Whether VAT applies depends on where you're based, and Airbnb keeps a list of countries where it may apply. As a guest:

  • The email receipt has a link to the VAT invoice, under the Airbnb service fee.
  • On a computer, click Trips, select the reservation and click Get receipt under Payment info. If there's more than one payment, open the payment you want from Payments. Its receipt links to the VAT invoice.

VAT invoices are only available for the past 12 months, aren't offered in every country, and can't be changed once issued. If you have a VAT ID, add it to your account before booking so it appears on later invoices.

Paying in parts, and splitting with friends

Airbnb offers Pay Part Now, Part Later and Reserve Now, Pay Later on eligible stays. Either way, expect a receipt for each payment, and use Manage payments to find them all.

Airbnb's help center says you can't split a reservation you pay in full across two cards. The exceptions are coupons, gift cards or travel credit, and monthly stays or payment plans, where you can change the card for future payments. If friends pay you back for their share outside Airbnb, your receipt still shows the full amount you paid. Note your actual share before you claim it as an expense.

Getting a whole year of Airbnb receipts

Airbnb doesn't document a bulk receipt download for guests. Two places cover it:

  1. Your email. In Gmail, from:airbnb.com receipt after:2025/01/01 before:2026/01/01 finds most receipt emails for a calendar year. More Gmail searches for receipts.
  2. Manage payments. It lists every completed payment with a receipt. Use it to check you have one for every payment, including second installments and refunds.

Airbnb for Work and business trips

Airbnb for Work links your personal Airbnb account to your employer. Add your work email to your account to become a verified business traveler. Then:

  • Mark the trip as work at checkout with Is this a work trip? Trip notes go to whoever manages travel at your company. If you pay with a personal card, Airbnb sends an expensable receipt to your work inbox. Some accounts that opted in to a newer "book for someone else" flow see a guest picker instead. Airbnb notes that the two flows look different.
  • Add expensing details under Trips > Payment info > This is a business trip > Add details for expensing your trip. These notes won't change a receipt that's already issued.
  • Concur TripLink: if your company uses it, connect Airbnb from the Concur App Center. Then tick Send this booking to Concur at checkout and the receipt appears in Concur.

Travel admins can print receipts for colleagues' trips from the Company dashboard: Profile > Company dashboard > Trips > Completed trips. Click the total in the Receipt column and then the payment line. Print it or save it as a PDF.

Doing it with What Receipt?

Airbnb emails your receipts, so connecting Gmail to What Receipt? (a Pro feature) brings them in automatically, installments and refunds included. Each one is read for vendor, date, total and tax. Import a past year catches up on a whole tax year at once. Put work stays in a Business project, add the trip purpose in the notes, and they leave in the same export as everything else.

Questions

How do I get a receipt for a past Airbnb stay?
