Terms of Service

Effective: 2026-10-01 (draft, pending legal review)

Draft for review. Plain-language terms; replace bracketed items.

1. The service

What Receipt? ("the Service") captures, reads, organizes and exports receipts from photos, files and connected email accounts. It is provided by Dylan Roy ("we"). By creating an account or using the Mac app you agree to these terms.

2. Your account

You must be 18 or older, or the age of majority where you live. Keep your sign-in method secure; you are responsible for activity under your account.

3. Your content

Receipts and the data extracted from them are yours. You grant us only the rights needed to store, process and display them for you, including sending receipt content to our AI extraction provider. You can export or delete your content at any time.

4. Connected accounts

If you connect Gmail or another email account you confirm you are authorized to grant that access. You may revoke it at any time in Settings or at your provider.

5. Plans, payments, refunds

Free, Pro and Business plans are described on the pricing page. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; cancel any time and keep access until the end of the paid period. Purchases made through Apple or Google are governed by their refund policies. For web purchases, email us within 14 days for a refund if the Service did not work for you. The Mac Privacy Edition is a one-time purchase for the current major version.

6. Fair use

Do not use the Service to process documents you have no right to, to attack or overload the Service, or to resell it. We may rate-limit accounts that exceed normal personal or small-business volumes.

7. Accuracy

Extraction is automated and can be wrong. Review receipts before relying on them for tax or accounting purposes. The Service is not tax, legal or accounting advice.

8. Availability and changes

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee it. We may change or discontinue features; if we discontinue the Service we will give at least 60 days to export your data.

9. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

10. Termination

You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms, with notice where practical.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Minnesota. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Minnesota.
