How to get Apple receipts for App Store, iCloud and subscriptions
Where Apple sends receipts for apps, iCloud+ and subscriptions, how to find a past purchase on the web, iPhone, Mac or PC, why one charge can cover several purchases, and how to get invoices for apple.com orders.
Apple receipts are easy to miss. One email can cover several purchases, one card charge can bundle a week of App Store and subscription activity, and your statement just says apple.com/bill. Here's where Apple keeps your purchase history, how to match a charge to what you bought, and how to round up a year of receipts.
Short answer Apple emails a receipt to the address on your Apple Account. To find a past purchase, sign in at reportaproblem.apple.com and search by item or amount. On iPhone or iPad, open the App Store, tap your photo or initials, then Apps & Purchase History > Purchase History. Apple can group several purchases into one charge and one email, so match by date and amount. For things you bought on apple.com, open your Order Listing and choose View Invoice.
Where Apple sends receipts
Receipts for App Store apps, in-app purchases, iCloud+, Apple Music and other Apple subscriptions go to the email address on the Apple Account that made the purchase. Apple suggests searching your email for the words "receipt from Apple" or "invoice from Apple".
A few things to know:
- One email can cover several purchases. Apple says you might not get a separate receipt for each purchase.
- Family Sharing sends two copies. Both the family member who made the purchase and the family organizer get an email receipt.
- Renewal receipts can be switched on. In current versions of iOS, go to Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and turn on Renewal Receipt Emails to get a receipt each time a subscription renews. If you don't see the toggle, your iOS version may label things differently.
- Real receipts show your billing address. Apple notes that genuine purchase receipts include your current billing address, which scammers are unlikely to have. That's a quick way to spot a fake "receipt" in your inbox.
Finding a past purchase
On the web
Go to reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with your Apple Account. You'll see a list of your purchases. If you don't know what a charge was for but know the amount, search for the amount.
On iPhone or iPad
- Open the App Store and tap your photo or initials (or the My Account button).
- Tap Apps & Purchase History, then Purchase History.
- History opens on the last 90 days. Tap Last 90 days at the top to choose another date range, filter paid or free items, or pick a family member if you're the family organizer.
You can also search by item name, price or order ID. Some of Apple's help pages describe a route through Settings instead: tap your name, then Media & Purchases > View Account > Purchase History. Labels vary by iOS version, so use whichever your phone shows.
On a Mac
Open the App Store, click your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then click Apps & Purchase History and Purchase History. Click Last 90 Days to change the date range.
On a Windows PC
Open the Apple Music or Apple TV app, click your name at the bottom of the sidebar and choose View My Account. Scroll to Purchase History and click See All next to Most Recent Purchase.
If something is missing from your history, check whether you bought it with a different Apple Account. That's one of the first reasons Apple's help suggests.
What an Apple receipt shows
The receipt lists what you bought and what each item cost, along with the Apple Account used and your billing address. For a subscription, the receipt is also how you find out which Apple Account is paying. That matters if you have more than one.
Why the charge on your statement doesn't match
Apple charges your payment method at the time of purchase or within a few days, and may group several purchases and subscriptions into one charge, even if you made them on different days. On a card statement, Apple's digital purchases usually appear as apple.com/bill or itunes.com/bill.
So a $27.97 charge might be a $9.99 subscription renewal, a $2.99 iCloud+ plan and a $14.99 app, all on one email receipt. Open the receipt or your purchase history for that date to see the breakdown. Search by the charge amount at reportaproblem.apple.com if you're not sure which purchase it was.
You may also see a small pending charge after updating your billing details. Apple says this is a temporary authorization hold, not a charge, and your card issuer removes it after a short time.
Some banks can show Apple's purchase details from inside their own app, with an option such as View Receipt next to an Apple transaction. Not every bank supports this. Apple emails you whenever your details are shown this way.
Getting a whole year of Apple receipts
Apple's help pages don't describe a way to download all your receipts at once. Your options:
- Search your email. Every purchase was included in an emailed receipt. In Gmail,
("receipt from Apple" OR "invoice from Apple") after:2025/01/01 before:2026/01/01covers a calendar year. More Gmail searches for receipts. - Use purchase history as a checklist. Set the date range on your iPhone, iPad or Mac and compare it with your receipts and card statement. It's good for spotting a missing receipt, but it isn't a set of documents.
- Check every Apple Account. If you or your family use more than one, each has its own history and its own receipts.
Subscriptions billed through Apple
Many subscriptions you start inside an iPhone app are billed by Apple, not by the app's maker. That includes iCloud+ and Apple's own services, and also third-party apps you subscribe to through the App Store. Their receipts come from Apple and the charges show up as apple.com/bill.
To see what you're paying for, go to Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. On a Mac, open the App Store, click your name, click your name again on the page that appears, and choose Subscriptions.
If you can't find an Apple receipt for a subscription, Apple says you might have bought it from another company. Check your bank or card statement to see who's billing you.
Apple Store and apple.com orders
Hardware and accessories bought on apple.com work differently. Apple creates an invoice once an item ships or is picked up. To get it:
- Go to your Order Listing and sign in with your Apple Account.
- Select an item to open the order details.
- Select View Invoice at the top of the order details page, then print it or save it as a PDF.
For purchases made in an Apple Store or from another reseller, keep the receipt you got at checkout. Apple recommends keeping the original sales receipt for any Apple device, and says it needs to show the device, the purchase date, an invoice or receipt number, the price and the reseller's contact details.
Keeping Apple receipts tax-ready
- Keep work purchases on one Apple Account and one card where you can. Mixed accounts make grouped charges much harder to split.
- Turn on Renewal Receipt Emails so every subscription renewal leaves a record, not just the first purchase.
- Split grouped receipts. If one receipt covers a business app and a personal game, record only the business line.
- Note what it was for. "Design app for client mockups" makes a better record than an app name.
Doing it with What Receipt?
Apple's receipts arrive by email, so connecting Gmail to What Receipt? (Pro) brings them in automatically. Each one is read for vendor, date, total and tax and filed with your other receipts. Import a past year catches up a whole tax year at once. If your Apple receipts go to a different mailbox, forward them to your personal forwarding address from Settings.
Subscriptions are where What Receipt? helps most. Pro's recurring-charge detection spots regular charges such as a monthly iCloud+ plan or an annual app subscription, and alerts you when one goes missing. That's often the first sign a card expired or a renewal receipt never arrived.
